Samsung Electronics hosted a collaborative book talk event with major publisher Minumsa on September 11, 2026, to showcase the Galaxy Z Fold8’s potential as a digital reading device.

Why it matters

In South Korea, 'Text Hip' (a portmanteau of 'text' and 'hip') has emerged as a cultural trend where younger generations view reading as a fashionable way to express their individual taste and identity. By partnering with Minumsa, a prominent publisher founded on May 19, 1966, Samsung aims to position its foldable smartphone as a portable library. The Galaxy Z Fold8’s large, foldable screen is marketed as a solution for readers to carry an entire collection of e-books without the physical weight of traditional paper books.
